VHF (ROC-M) Radio Course

Maritime Radio Certificate - ROC(M)

This course prepares you for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement. You'll learn emergency radio procedures, everyday operating techniques, frequency selection, the phonetic alphabet, procedural words, Digital Selective Calling (DSC), and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). This certificate is legally required to operate a maritime radio in Canada and is mandatory for many Paddle Canada certifications.

How It Works:

Complete the online course at your own pace through our learning system. The material covers everything you need to know for both the written and oral exams. Practice exams are available to help you prepare. Online students receive a digital copy of the course material (ePub format).

When you're ready, we'll meet for your exam - either in person at the date/time you booked, or online via Google Meet. In-person students receive a hard copy of the course material on exam day. The exam has two parts: a 50-question written test (70% to pass) and a short oral exam where you'll demonstrate radio procedures.
