Prerequisite: Completion of Paddle Canada Level 1 or equivalent experience in coastal conditions

Trip Overview:

Eastern Georgian Bay is known for its iconic smooth, flat rocks and windswept pines. Franklin, Mink, and McCoy Islands are a paddler’s paradise, offering stunning scenery and plenty of opportunities for exploration. This instructional tour will allow you to paddle these beautiful waters while also learning essential kayaking skills and navigation techniques. With expert guidance, you'll explore these stunning islands, enhancing your experience and gaining valuable knowledge.

 

 

Trip Highlights:

  • Small Group Experience:
    Enjoy a personalized adventure in small groups, with a max ratio of 4:1, led by experienced Paddle Canada coaches.

  • Stunning Coastal Scenery:
    Explore the iconic smooth rocks, windswept pines, and picturesque waters of Eastern Georgian Bay, renowned for its natural beauty.

  • Instructional Tour:
    Learn essential kayaking skills, including navigation, using charts and compasses, and safe paddling techniques in a real-world environment.

  • Camping & Meals Included:
    Experience the outdoors with comfortable camping and all meals provided for the duration of the trip (Days 1-5).

Itinerary:

Day 1: Meet Up at Snug Harbour

  • Arrive at Snug Harbour for a trip briefing, orientation, and gear check.
  • Meet your guides and fellow paddlers to prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 – 5: Explore Franklin, Mink, and McCoy Islands

  • Spend the next four days paddling through the stunning islands of Franklin, Mink, and McCoy, exploring this region's coastal waters and natural beauty.
  • Learn essential skills such as navigation using charts and compasses while also gaining hands-on experience in coastal kayaking.

Day 5: Last Kayak Day – Take Out at Snug Harbour

  • Conclude your kayaking adventure with a final paddle and takeout at Snug Harbour. We usually go for Fish and Chipos at Gilly's afterwards. (not included in the price)

What’s Included:

  • Guided Instruction:
    Small groups led by experienced Paddle Canada coaches (4:1 ratio).

  • Meals:
    All meals are provided during the trip (Days 1-5). Breakfast on Day 1 and dinner on Day 5 are excluded.

  • Equipment:
    A dry suit and kayak are provided.
    Common camping gear (tarps, etc.) is included.
    Each participant will have access to charts, compasses, and cases for navigation.

  • Camping & Accommodations:
    Enjoy camping at scenic sites with all necessary accommodations arranged.

What’s Not Included:

  • Transportation:
    Participants are responsible for transportation to the put-in point (Snug Harbour).

  • Parking Fees:
    Any parking fees at the launch sites are not included.

  • Snacks & Personal Clothing:
    Bring your own snacks and personal paddling clothing (dry suit or neoprene & paddle jacket combination).
