Basic Stand Up Paddleboard Skills - Hamilton/Niagara
These one-day (6 - hour) introductory SUP lessons are perfect for individuals who are new to paddleboarding and wish to learn basic skills so they can start their paddleboarding journey. By the end of this course, you will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of paddleboarding and learn essential paddling techniques such as forward, backward, and sweep strokes, breaking, and turning. Additionally, you will learn how to safely recover in the event of a fall.
For this class, you will require:
- A paddleboard (rental included in fee).
- You will need a leash, a whistle, and a 15-meter floating rope, which can be purchased.
- Dry suits are available if required.
- A PFD is mandatory; you must bring your own.
- A paddle.
- Sunscreen.
- Lunch.
- Water.
During this class, you will:
- Get wet.
- Bring spare clothes and a towel.
- Cotton is not appropriate.
- Have fun.
- We will incorporate games, group activities and drills to learn the topics.
- Make friends.
- You will meet a group of kayakers similar to you at the same point in their development.
Upon completion, you will receive:
- A Basic Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Skills Award.
The course will run rain or shine. We will postpone in the case of prolonged thunderstorms.
