Jordan Harbour - Lincoln, Ontario (More information Coming Soon!)
Jordan Harbour is one of those spots that every paddler in Niagara knows. Tucked between the QEW and the shoreline, it’s a tight little wetland corridor that sees a mix of kayakers, SUPs, anglers, and photographers. The shipwreck makes it look dramatic, but the real value of this place is the calm, protected water and the access it gives to Twenty Mile Creek.
This isn’t a sea kayak destination in the true sense — it’s more of a quick after-work paddle or a place to stretch your stroke and mess around in flatwater. But if you’re local, or just passing through, it’s a useful piece of the puzzle.
Trip Character
• Protected water, no exposure
• Short, easy paddling for all levels
• Narrow channels, reeds, birds, and the old schooner providing a surreal backdrop
• Good winter spot if ice isn’t in
• Great for skills, boat fit adjustments, or introducing new paddlers
Launch
There’s a public launch maintained by the NPCA with easy access for non-motorized craft. Parking is straightforward most days, though summer weekends can fill. Expect a few anglers on the shoreline. No fees at the time this was originally written, but NPCA policies change — check before you go.
Navigation Notes
Once you push off, you can follow the channel inland along Twenty Mile Creek. The harbour itself is small, but the creek winds enough to give you a quiet, sheltered paddle. Depending on water levels, you may hit shallow sections.
This is not a place to practise rescues or rough-water skills — there’s just not enough space. Treat it as a chill paddle or a warm-up day.
Hazards
Nothing major, but:
• Shallows and submerged debris
• Fishing lines
• Boat traffic on rare occasions
• The shipwreck is unstable — don’t climb or approach closely
Who This Trip Is For
• Beginners wanting an easy, confidence-building outing
• Local paddlers looking for a quick paddle
• Anyone doing a skills refresher or fit check
• Photographers chasing the moody shipwreck vibe
If you’re looking for true sea kayaking in the Niagara region, head to Port Dalhousie, Jordan Station, or Lake Ontario proper. Jordan Harbour is a nice little detour, not a destination — but it’s worth keeping on the radar.
